Results: Push Kick Promotions "World Stand Off"

by Faye Lucas
Pomona, CA -- Despite losing two of its pro fights at the last minute Push Kick Promotions "World Stand Off" was quite an exciting event. Ky Hollenbeck vs. Gornpet "Diamond Hands" DeJrat and Neungsiam "The Rock" Samphusri vs. Charles Williams were the canceled bouts.

Lerdsila "Mr. Lightning" and Sheymon Da Silva headlined the event and early on it was clear that Lerdsila had no respect for Da Silva as he kept his hands down mocking him and encouraging Da Silva to kick him in the leg. Da Silva pressed the action the entire fight, but Lerdsila was very effective with his counters. When they clinched it was very clear that Lerdsila was the stronger fighter as he tossed Da Silva to the canvas on several occasions. Da Silva continued to press the action the entire fight while Lerdsila seemed content to simply counter and use his speed against the Brazilian fighter. When it was all said and done Lerdsila "Mr. Lightning" walked away with a unanimous decision victory.

Ekpracha "The Hitman" Menton stole the show in his fight against William "The Bull" Sriyapai in the night's second pro bout. From the beginning it was all Menton as he came out aggressive connecting with kicks and punches. Menton showed some stellar hands as he floored Sriyapai in the first. The second round was very similar to the first with Menton going after Sriyapai looking to finish the fight. In the clinch Menton connected with vicious elbows that opened up a cut over the right eye of Sriyapai. Menton forced Sriyapai to take a knee after connecting with several strikes. In an effort to finish the fight after it resumed Menton attacked with a flying knee which Sriyapai evaded causing Menton to almost fly out of the ring, but as he headed over the top rope he was able to grab on with one arm and land on the apron of the ring. Before the round was over Menton connected with a right that floored Sriyapai again, but he was able to make it out of the round. The third round looked identical to the first two rounds, but this time when Menton connected with a knee Sriyapai went down and the referee stopped the fight. The TKO victory for Menton came at 58 seconds of the third round. It was a very impressive showing by Menton as he excited the fans in attendance with his tenacity and aggressiveness.

The night's first pro bout saw Chonlaag "No Wait" Keawit and Baxter "The One Arm Bandit" Humby square off. Keawit pressed the action the entire fight, but Humby effectively fought a counter game. Humby used some well timed teeps to keep Keawit from getting in and scoring with the big punches he was throwing. They worked back and forth for five rounds as the fight went to the score cards. The judges awarded Keawit a split decision victory in what was a very close fight that easily could have gone to Humby.
