Weekend Rundown: Buakaw, Yodsanklai, Fabio Pinca, Lerdsila, and Ekpracha Menton all win

It's time for the weekend rundown since two events took place this weekend. One was in California and the other in China, but both featured some top notch talent from Thailand. Push Kick Promotions "World Stand Off" took place in Pomona, CA while Thai Fight Extreme took place in Hong Kong, China.

Push Kick Promotions "World Stand Off"

The event dubbed Thailand vs. The World was hit hard when it lost two of the five pro bouts one day before the event due to fighters no getting medical clearance. Gornpet "Diamond Hands' DeJrat vs. Ky Hollenbeck and Neungsiam "The Rock" Samphusri vs. Charles Williams were the canceled at the last minute due to DeJrat and Samphusri not getting medically cleared to fight, however, the three pro fights that did happen were pretty exciting.

Pomona, CA -- Despite losing two of its pro fights at the last minute Push Kick Promotions "World Stand Off" was quite an exciting event. Ky Hollenbeck vs. Gornpet "Diamond Hands" DeJrat and Neungsiam "The Rock" Samphusri vs. Charles Williams were the canceled bouts.

Lerdsila "Mr. Lightning" and Sheymon Da Silva headlined the event and early on it was clear that Lerdsila had no respect for Da Silva as he kept his hands down mocking him and encouraging Da Silva to kick him in the leg. Da Silva pressed the action the entire fight, but Lerdsila was very effective with his counters. When they clinched it was very clear that Lerdsila was the stronger fighter as he tossed Da Silva to the canvas on several occasions. Da Silva continued to press the action the entire fight while Lerdsila seemed content to simply counter and use his speed against the Brazilian fighter. When it was all said and done Lerdsila "Mr. Lightning" walked away with a unanimous decision victory.

MTA: You will be fighting Lerdsila "Mr. Lightning" at Push Kick Promotions "World Stand Off" in California July 16th. How much do you know about Lerdsila?

Sheymon: Yes, I learned that he would fight him when you guys contacted me, I had little time to research ... but I know he is an excellent fighter, has much experience and is styled similar to Saenchai.

Sheymon Da Silva now set to face Lerdsila "Mr. Lightining at Push Kick Promotions "World Stand Off"

Originally Lerdsila "Mr. Lightning" was going to face American Kevin Ross at Push Kick Promotions "World Stand Off", however, Ross opted to forgo this fight and not risk any injury before the biggest fight of his career in August when he will face Saenchai.

With Ross out  Brazilian Sheymon Da Silva stepped in to take on Lerdsila "Mr. Lightning". The 20 year old Da Silva is from Rio de Janeiro but currently resides in Bangkok, Thailand and represents Team Nogueira.

Other bouts on the event will feature new minted WBC interim world champion Ky Hollenbeck taking on Gornpet "Diamond Hands" DeJrat, Charles Williams vs. Neungsiam "The Rock" Samphusri, Chonled "No Wait" Keawit vs. Baxter Humby, and Ekpracha "Hitman" Menton vs. William Sriyapai.

Kevin Ross not fighting on July Push Kick Promotions event

A few days ago Muay Thai Authority released the fight card for the upcoming Push Kick promotions event taking place July 16th at the Pomona Fairplex. Some big names were scheduled for the fight card including Kevin Ross vs. Lerdsila "Mr. Lightning".

When asked about the match-up Ross stated that no contract had been signed, and after speaking with him again he informed Muay Thai Authority that he will not be fighting on the July 16th event. The main reason behind the decision is because the fight is four weeks before his scheduled fight against Saenchai at Stand Up Promotions August 13th event "World Class Championship Muay Thai". With Saenchai being the biggest fight of Ross' career, there is no reason to risk injury before he takes on arguably the best Muay Thai fighter in the world.
