WCK Muay Thai: Hot Summer Fights 2014 Results

WCK Muay Thai: Hot Summer Fights 2014 took place last night at Morongo Casino in Cabazon, CA. The event featured a slew of Southern California based talent. In the main event Romie Adanza and Frank Gross had a re-match of their April 2014 fight that ended in a controversial draw. This time around Gross walked away the winner and new WBC Muay Thai Flyweight International Champion. The judges awarded Gross a split decision. 

Also on the fight card Lena Ovchynnikova defeated Ruth Ashdown to win the WBC Muay Thai Women's Flyweight World Title.

WCK Muay Thai: Hot Summer Fights 2014 fight card

WCK Muay Thai action will take place July 19 at Morongo Casino Resort in Cabazon, CA with Hot Summer Fights 2014. The event will feature a main event bout between Romie Adanza and Frank Gross. The pair fought in April of this year to a controversial draw which many thought should have been a win for Adanza. 

The event will also feature Lena Ovchynnikova vs. Ruth Ashdown in a WBC Muay Thai world title fight. Other fighters scheduled to compete on the card are local west coast stand outs Glen Spencer, Jason Caldwell, and Charles Bisset.

Matches to make after Lion Fight 12

Lion Fight 12 took place this past weekend and some of North America’s top fighters were in action as well as some up and coming prospects.

Malaipet Sasiprapa dropped a decision to Fabio Pinca in the night’s main event, and Tiffany Van Soest notched another dominant victory in the co-main event against Magali Foroni. Some big knockouts were scored as well by Anthony Castrejon and Jason Andrada.

Here we play match maker and suggest some fights we think might be good fights for the North American based fighters that competed at Lion Fight 12.

Malaipet Sasiprapa vs. Kevin Ross
A few years ago this was the biggest fight to ever hit American soil. Kevin Ross scored a huge win over Malaipet and really helped push him to the forefront of the American Muay Thai movement. The buildup was great, with Malaipet making claims of not needing to train for Americans, setting the stage for an exciting bout. With both fighters under contract it would be a great re-match to see at Lion Fight; not only would it be exciting, but it would likely draw a lot of buzz for the Vegas-based promotion. Can Malaipet get his revenge against Ross or will Ross prevail once again? If Malaipet were to win, this could turn into a great Muay Thai trilogy. Something that could really help continue to boost Muay Thai in America. Although getting that trilogy to happen will be easier said than done, Ross would undoubtedly look to prove that the first time was no fluke and that he is still the better fighter.

Tiffany Van Soest vs. Denise Kielholtz
Van Soest has run through most of her competition. Her athleticism has not been matched in the ring yet and that has given her the biggest edge over her opponents. Her movement in the ring and her explosiveness are exceptional. Fans are craving for Van Soest to get a stiff test, someone Van Soest won’t simply mow down. That test could come in the form of Dutch striker Denise Kielholtz. Time Bomb vs. Miss Dynamite should result in fireworks in the ring and a fight that would be very pleasing for fans.

Nick Chasteen vs. Artem Sharoshkin
Chasteen made a successful pro debut with his unanimous decision win over Chris Culley. Chasteen is a big man for the 147lb weight division and that should give him advantages in his fights. He seemed a bit hesitant at times in his fight with Culley, but that might just have been pro debut jitters because when engaged by Culley he was more than willing to fire back. An opponent that pushes the pace would be perfect for Chasteen, Artem Sharoshkin is that opponent. The two previously fought as amateurs with Sharoshkin scoring a knockout over Chasteen. It would be an exciting fight with Sharoshkin’s move forward style and Chasteen’s ability and willingness to hold firm in the pocket and trade. Not to mention that revenge being on Chasteen’s mind is always perfect recipe to make sure a fight is exciting.

Jason Andrada vs. Anthony Castrejon
The pair met as amateurs at the first ever Lion Fight event in February of 2011. Castrejon and Andrada were both some of the top amateurs in the Las Vegas area, however, the bout was short lived as Castrejon landed a head kick that ended Andrada’s night in the first round. Both have been successful since entering the pro ranks with Andrada accumulating a 4-0 mark and Castrejon 5-1. None of these fighters is ever involved in a boring fight, put them in the ring together again and we should see what would most likely be fight of the night, possibly fight of the year.

Stephen Richards vs. Brett Hlavacek
Richard and Hlavacek were supposed fight at the Warriors Cup earlier this year but the fight fell through. Richards has some of the best boxing in the North American Muay Thai circuit and it would be interesting to see how it would match us with Hlavacek’s clinch heavy style. This would definitely be a match-up of styles.

Glen Spencer vs. Marcus Fisher
Spencer had a three fight win streak snapped against Stephen Richards. A good match up would be against Pittsburgh’s Marcus Fisher. Each fighter would receive a solid test and a nice boost with a win. Spencer is known for letting his knees flying and Fisher is known for having one of the strongest clinch attacks in the North American circuit. This would also be another match-up of styles that would be interesting to watch.

Lion Fight 12 Results and Recap: Fabio Pinca out points Malaipet

Lion Fight 12 took place tonight at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV. The main event on the night featured Fabio Pinca vs. Malaipet Sasiprapa in a Lion Fight welterweight title fight.

Malaipet was riding a four fight win streak coming into the bout and he looked solid in the first round, he came out aggressive with his punches and kicks in the first round and taunted Pinca quite often. Once the second round started it was a completely different fight, Pinca was the aggressor and he started opening up with his strikes and looked solid in the clinch. The third round was closer but Pinca was still able to out strike Malaipet and control the round. Come the fourth and fifth rounds the fight completely became Pinca’s. He pressed forward as Malaipet backed away, Pinca connected with punches and kicks and when they clinched Pinca out worked Malaipet with knees to the body and the occasional elbow. Malaipet had no answer as Pinca’s strikes continued to land clean. Pinca motioned at Malaipet to meet him the center to no avail, he continued to press the fight and Malaipet continued to back up. In the end it was clear who had won the fight and the judges agreed as well awarding Fabio Pinca the unanimous decision victory.

In the night’s co-main event Tiffany Van Soest completely out classed Magali Foroni. It was evident once the fight started that Foroni was not in the same class as Van Soest. It quickly turned into a one sided affair that looked more like target practice for Van Soest. Foroni offered little to no offense for two plus rounds until her corner threw in the towel midway through the third round. Another dominant performance for Tiffany Van Soest who remains undefeated and improves her record to 8-0-1.

Nick Chasteen made a successful pro debut against Chris Culley. Chasteen attacked Culley’s legs early and it seemed to pay dividends as Cully seemed to stay at bay until he was ready to move in with a flurry. Despite a few strong flurries from Culley, Chasteen remained composed and pressed the action backing Culley into the ropes frequently and landing his strikes. In the end all three judges awarded him a unanimous decision.

Jason Andrada and Mohammed Lemjerdine were involved in an exciting fight. As soon as the fight started Andrada scored a flash knockdown on Lemjerdine, although it seemed like Lemjerdine was more off balance rather than being hurt. In the second round Lemjerdine seemed to take control with his punches and short elbows when in close, but in the third round the tide shifted and it was all Andrada. In the fourth round the momentum continued to shift back and forth as both fighters landed solid strikes. In the fifth and final round it seemed Lemjerdine was in control as he continuously backed Andrada into the ropes. Lemjerdine got a little over aggressive and in a flurry he backed Andrada into the ropes who in return countered with a perfectly timed elbow that sent Lemjerdine crashing to the canvas. It was a stellar knockout by Andrada. With the win Andrada improves to 4-0.

Stephen Richards used some crisp boxing and excellent movement to out point Glen Spencer for five rounds. Spencer was a game opponent, but Richards was just a step quicker throughout the fight. All three judges awarded Richards the fight giving him a unanimous decision win.

In other action Anthony Castrejon scored a first round knockout over Miguel Rosales with a perfectly timed head kick and Miranda Cayabyab defeated Kaiyana Rain by split decision.

Glen Spencer talks upcoming fight with Stephen Richards at Lion Fight 12

Glen Spencer will have the toughest test of his professional career when he faces veteran Stephen Richards at Lion Fight 12 on November 1st. Spencer and Richards have met before but as amateurs, a fight which Richards won by (T)KO. Looking to avenge the loss now that they are both in the pro ranks; Spencer will put up a three fight winning streak on the line when he steps in the ring. Spencer took some time to answer a few questions for Muay Thai Authority about the upcoming fight with Richards.

MTA: Big fight coming up against Stephen Richards, how has training been going for this fight?

Glen: Training has been good it's easier for me to maintain after just coming off a fight. Also there is no room for me to play around and party, got to stay sharp for my upcoming Battle.

MTA: You are coming off a solid win at PKP "World Stand Off 5". Does coming off a win make it easier for your in training in any way?

Glen: Coming off the win is more harder because I haven't had time to celebrate my last win. As soon as the fight was over I had a week off and got right back to the grind.

MTA: You lost to Stephen as an amateur how long has revenge been on your mind?

Glen: The loss to Stephen never left my mind in fact it made me better. I knew what my weakness was and made great changes to correct them. Revenge has always been on my mind in fact this should be titled Revenge of the Fallen!! When I was asked to take the fight I didn't even Blink! Back in 03/04 I wasn't that good in fact it was my 3rd fight I was green but now I have Transformed!

MTA: Stephen is a very technical fighter, where do you think you might hold an advantage over him in this fight?

Glen: My advantage in this fight will be my aggressiveness and moving forward Sityodtong style. Also I'm hungry and it's time for everyone to know who MEGATRON is!!

MTA: Is there any area in particular you feel Stephen might have as an advantage?

Glen: I will most definitely be on the look out for Stephen's boxing skills that's how he beat me before. He's very fast and elusive so I will remain calm when he slips some of my attacks. As long as I keep a good eye on him I think I will do fine.

MTA: Do you try to come with a specific game plan into your fights or just let things develop, and how important do you think game plans are?

Glen: The only game plan I have is to Attack and be explosive.

MTA: Can we get a prediction for this fight?

Glen: The only prediction I have is that it's going to be one hell of a fight. Stephen isn't the WBC champ for no reason. All I can say is may the best man win.

MTA: Any words for your supporters?

Glen: Words for my supporters and Muay Thai fans are be there live and support the sport of Muay Thai in America. Lion Fight is one of the premier platforms for Muay Thai in the US and the world. Lion Fight 12 finalized with 5 additonal bouts including Glen Spncer vs. Stephen Richards

The fight card for Lion Fight 12 has been finalized. In addition to the already announced bouts of Malaipet Sasiprapa vs. Fabio Pinca and Tiffany Van Soest vs. Magali Foroni, five more pro bouts have been confirmed.

Jason Andrada will return to the ring to take on Northern California based fighter Aber Bouttavong, also Nick Chasteen makes his pro debut against Southern California’s Chris Culley. Glen Spencer will return to action after his recent victory at Push Kick Promotions “World Stand Off 5” to take on Atlanta’s Stephen Richards, Anthony Castrejon will return after a lengthy layoff to take on Miguel Rosales, and Miranda Cayabyab will make her pro debut against Kaiyana Rain.

Lion Fight 12 will take place on November 1st at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada and will be broadcast live on AXS TV.

Matches to make after Push Kick Promotions "World Stand Off 5"

Push Kick Promotions “World Stand Off 5” took place this past weekend in what was an eventful night. The night’s main event between Simon Marcus and Chidi Njokuani ended in a controversial draw and has had fans on the internet taking sides.

There was a slew of North American based fighters on the card and here we are going to suggest some match ups that we think might make sense for them as their next bout.

Simon Marcus vs. Chidi Njokuani
Nothing more needs to be said. With the controversial draw there is no reason these two should not fight again. Marcus had the most to lose from the draw, although his record still has a zero in the loss column you can bet he is not happy having that one in the draw column. The controversy surrounded the point deduction by referee Tony weeks in the third round to Marcus because of an unintentional low blow and the strategy that Njokuani employed to get out of the clinch, which was turning his back so that the referee would break them up. Marcus has already stated he wants to fight Njokuani again and there should be no reason Njokuani should be opposed to a re-match especially with all the drama that occurred after the fight.

Sean Kearney vs. Kevin Ross
Sean Kearney at 140lbs is a monster. His size and reach give him a tremendous advantage going into any fight and he showed he knew how to use those assets to his advantage against Matt Embree. Many thought the fight with Embree would determine who the number one North American fighter is and Kearney did enough to take home the decision in the judge’s eyes. Kearney has a move forward style that is exciting; Ross has made his living in the ring off of not backing down. A win for Ross over Kearney would be a good way for him to rebound from back to back losses, and for Kearney a win over Ross really cement his spot a top the 140lb North American division.

Matt Embree vs. Rami Ibrahim
Embree is without a doubt one of the top fighters in North America, up until he ran into Sean Kearney we was easily considered the number one fighter in North America. Unfortunately for Embree after a hard fought battle with Kearney he was on the losing end of a split decision. It was an exciting fight from start to finish and a re-match down the road between the two would be great. The re-match that would be nice for Embree right now would be against Rami Ibrahim. A few years back Embree beat Ibrahim in the opening round of the Journey Fight Series tournament in what was considered by the many the best fight that night. Ibrahim has expressed interest in re-matching Embree so why not have it happen now? Ibrahim would be a solid win for Embree if he could come out victorious once again over the Philadelphia based fighter.

Cyrus Washington vs. Nate Chambers
Both Washington and Chambers lost decisions to Thai’s at World Stand Off 5, but they both put on admirable showings. A match-up between the two would be a nicely matched fight. Both fighters hit hard, have nice technique and have a traditional fundamental base to their style, but they tend to not lay back as much as fighters who fight with a pure traditional style.

Josh Aragon vs. Damien Earley
Aragon and Earley are some of Muay Thai’s up and coming pro fighters. Both have the tools to excel to the top of their weight class in the years to come and it would be a great match up for each fighter to test themselves against another top prospect.

Glen Spencer vs. Shawn Yarborough
Glen Spencer was in prime form against Gabriel Vian this weekend. He exploited the inexperience of Vian in the clinch and it was evident that that hs Muay Thai technique was ready to counter any of Vian’s MMA style attacks. A nice match up for Spencer to test himself would be against Shawn Yarborough. The former WBC champ has not fought in a year and a half after a rough patch in which he went 1-4. He has been looking to make a return to the ring and he should match up nicely with Spencer. For Spencer adding Yarborough’s name to his win column would be a nice accomplishment as well.

Sheldon Gaines vs. Turan Hasanov
Gaines and Hasanov met over three years ago at Take-On’s $10,000 tournament. Gaines was ousted by Hasanov in the night’s opening round in what was a questionable decision. Gaines still believes he was robbed by the judges and you can bet getting another crack at Hasanov would be something he would welcome with open arms.

Push Kick Promotions "World Stand Off 5" Results and Recap: Marcus vs. Njokuani ends in controversial draw

Push Kick Promotions “World Stand Off 5” took place at the Tropicana in Las Vegas, NV and the night’s main event between Canada’s Simon Marcus and Chidi Njokuani was marred with controversy. When the fight began Njokuani looked to use his footwork to control the ring and keep Marcus at bay, but eventually Marcus got inside clinched up and began throwing knees and elbows. Although Njokuani was able to get out of the clinch and tried to keep Marcus at bay with push kicks they eventually ended up back in the clinch where Marcus continued to work his knees and elbows.

In the second round things got interesting. Simon continued to look solid in the clinch, but on two occasions Njokuani was given time by referee Tony Weeks. One was for a borderline elbow to the back of the head that occurred when Marcus was throwing an elbow and Njokuani gave up his back as the elbow was being thrown. The other was due to a low blow that occurred when both fighters threw a kick. Each time Njokuani was able to continue and as soon as the referee called for action Marcus was right back to work in the clinch. Njokuani had no answer for the Canadian’s clinch and simply began to give up his back whenever they clinched. The referee would then break them up rather than warning Njokuani or taking point eventually as this maneuver continued into the third round.

In the third round Marcus landed a low blow when he threw a knee and referee Tony Weeks deducted a point from him. When the bout resumed Marcus looked to work for the clinch again, but Njokuani did a good job keeping distance and turning it more into brawl as both men looked to land heavy shots as the final bell approached. When it went to the judges the bout was declared a majority draw with two judges scoring the bout a draw and one scoring the bout for Njokuani. Marcus was clearly not happy afterwards and in his post fight interview called the fight “bull s--t” and called Njokuani a “b-tch”. The post fight comments then led to a heated confrontation between Chidi Njokuani’s brother and UFC fighter Anthony Njokuani as he got into the face of Marcus back stage.

In the night’s co-main event Moses Tor Sangtiennoi and Cyrus Washington fought three hard rounds. Although Sangtiennoi seemed to be a step ahead, Washington did a solid job as he was able to land some clean shots on the Thai and match his pace throughout the fight. In the end the judges awarded Sangtiennoi a unanimous decision.

In a match up to determine North America’s number one 140 lb fighter, Canadians Matt Embree and Sean Kearney went down to the wire. Kearney utilized his size well and was able to keep Embree from hanging back and simply picking away at him with his pinpoint strikes. Embree did show he had what it took to fight a more brawling style. Fans are used to seeing him in more technical affairs, but this fight got down and dirty. Going into the third and final round it was safe to assume it was one round a piece and both fighters went for it. Kearney pushed the pace, but Embree didn’t back down and fired back his own offense attacking on the inside with punches and trying to work his clinch. Kearney utilized some excellent elbows in the clinch which eventually opened up a cut on top of Embree’s head. In the end the judges rendered a split verdict with two of them scoring it for Kearney 29-28 and one scoring it for Embree 29-28. Kearney has been jumping up to 147 at times to take fights, but 140 is his ideal weight class. With his size and technique he will cause trouble for anyone that steps in the ring with him, especially at 140 lbs. A match up with America’s top 140 lb fighter Kevin Ross would be nice.

In the rest of the fights Kornpet Janjira defeated Nate Chambers by decision in a technical fight. Josh Aragon and Steve Swaby-Clacken fought to a razor thin split decision that went to Aragon; Sheldon Gaines took a unanimous decision over San Phomphiphak in another close fight. Damien Earley stopped Lee Henry Lilly in the third round with a spinning elbow. Chase Green took home a unanimous decision over Michael Stevens and in the night’s first bout Glen Spencer bested Gabriel Vian by way of unanimous decision.

Glen Spencer and Damien Earley added to PKP 5 "World Stand Off Las Vegas"

A few changes and additions have taken place for PKP (Push Kick Promotions) 5 "World Stand Off" Las Vegas. Glen Spencer will replace Charles Byrd on the fight card against Gabriel Vian and and an additional bout featuring Damien Earley vs. Lee Henry Lilly has been added to the fight card.

Spencer returns to action since his KO win at M-One "Reborn" this past May. Spencer defeated Sebastian Lopez with knees to the body in the third round. Spencer has won his last two bouts both by KO. Spencer also competed at the last PKP event this past March where he scored a second round KO over Brett Martin.

Earley will look to get back on the winning track against Lilly after dropping a decision to Josh Shepard this past January. Lilly has fought primarily in MMA and will be looking to score an upset of one the United States up and coming fighters.

PKP 5 "World Stand Off Las Vegas" will take place September 28th at the Tropicana in Las Vegas, NV.

Matches to make after M-One "Reborn"

M-One “Reborn” took place this past week and it was a nice return for the M-One promotion after a year long hiatus. The theme of the event was Team Thailand vs. The World, and Team Thailand walked away with a clean 4-0 sweep. Despite only one North American based fighter being on the world team, there were several other on the fight card. So what’s next for the winning fighters after M-One “Reborn”? Here are a few match ups that we feel would be good moves for the four North American winner on the under card, and for the only North American on the world team, Romie Adanza, whether they be on a future M-One card or another promotion.

Romie Adanza vs. Jomhod Sagami
Their bout at M-One ended early due to a nicely placed elbow from Jomhod that opened up a cut on Adanza’s head. There is no saying what would have happened had Adanza not been cut so early in the bout. Fans definitely weren’t happy about the stoppage, and would probably be more than excited to see a re-match.

Bryce Krause vs. Luis Bio
Bryce Krause defeated Douglas Edwards by unanimous decision at M-One “Reborn”. Krause used some accurate counter striking to find his mark and out point Edwards. A match-up that would not only be exciting, but would make sense would be against Mexico’s Luis Bio. Both are two of the top 154lb fighters in North America and would likely engage in an exciting bout. Krause’s heavy hands vs. Bio’s clinch and elbow game would be a treat for the fans.

Glen Spencer vs. Shawn Yarborough or Brandon Banda
Glen Spencer stumbled out of the gates as a pro dropping a decision to Mike Lemaire, but has won his last two bouts by (T)KO. His victory over Sebastian Lopez at M-One was a solid victory for the Sityodtong LA product, but it would be nice to see Spencer face a more seasoned veteran his next time out. Shawn Yarborough or Brandon Banda would each fit the bill. Both are veterans that, although not as active lately have been solid fighters throughout their career, and could test Spencer in a five round fight.

Adam Rothweiler vs. Jason Andrada
Adam Rothweiler was active in the MMA scene before switching to Muay Thai, and so far it seems like it has been the right choice. Rothweiler defeated Adrian Morilla in his pro debut, and at M-One “Reborn” scored a spectacular head kick knockout over Jessie Magusen. Rothweiler was known as an exciting fighter when he was competing in MMA never holding anything back and it seems that he’s bringing that trait over to Muay Thai. Rothweiler keeps a fast pace and doesn’t seem to slow down. Andrada is another young fighter who doesn’t seem to have a pause button. From start to finish both of these fighters go full force, and if you place them both in the same ring the only result possible seems to be one of the craziest fights that could ever take place.

Joey Pagliuso vs. Jose Palacios
Joey Pagliuso has seemed like a man possessed in his last two fights. Both fights have been one sided stoppages of his opponents, with Karlos Aldama being his victim at M-One “Reborn”. Pagliuso has come out fighting like a bat out of hell looking to let the leather fly early and it has paid dividends. In 2011 Pagliuso suffered a knockout loss to Jose Palacios after a head kick dropped him in the final round of the bout. Up until that point many thought Pagliuso was on his way to winning a decision. It would be interesting to see these two meet again.

M-One "Reborn" Results: Sagetdao retains WBC Muay Thail World Super Lightweight Title

M-One “Reborn” took place last night at San Manuel Casino in Highland, CA. In the night’s main event Sagetdao Petpayathai and Tetsuya Yamato fought for Sagetdao’s WBC Muay Thai super lightweight world title. As expected Sagetdao started off slow as he went through the feeling out process, however, once the second round started he began to pick up the pace. Surprisingly to many, he did not try to engage Yamato in the clinch as much as expected. Yamato was more than game as he let the leather fly and answered most of what Sagetdao threw his way. It was a close fight going into the fourth round when Sagetdao began to let his elbows fly and was able to open a cut over the right eye of Yamato. The doctor was brought in to examine the cut and the bout was stopped in the fourth round awarding Sagetdao the fight. With the win Sagetdao retains his WBC world title.

In the night’s co-main event Romie Adanza and Jomhod Sagami got to fight for a little over a minute before a cut was again the culprit of ending a fight early. Jomhod clinched for a brief second and delivered a lighting quick elbow that opened up a nice sized cut on the right side of Adanza’s forehead. The doctor was called in to inspect the cut, and Adanza could be seen pleading to the doctor to let the fight to continue, but despite his pleas the doctor stopped the fight.

Superbon Suppachai started strong against Craig Jose in their bout. In the early rounds Superbon was aggressive with his attacks and continuously targeted Jose’s lead leg with kicks. It seemed Superbon was on the way to a clear cut victory, but in the fourth round the resilient Jose started to turn the pressure up as Superbon began to fade. He went to work with all his tools and by the end of the bout what seemed like it would be a clear cut win for Superbon now seemed like it could go to either fighter. In the end all three judges awarded the fight to Superbon.

In the first of the Thailand vs. The World matches Thanongdeth Petpayathai made quick work of Charlie Peters. The fight was very even until a kick from Thanongdeth seemed to hurt Peters, when Thanongdeth realized Peters was hurt he pounced and delivered a couple of knees that sent Peters down and he was not able to beat the referee’s count. It seemed that Peters might have caught a toe in the eye which is what led to his demise in the bout.

Bryce Krause and Douglas Edwards fought for five hard rounds. The fight was pretty close from the start as both fighters landed their fair share. Edwards pressed the fight, but Krause was more than happy to stand back and counter with crisp strikes. In the end the close bout was awarded to Kruase by all three judges. With the win Krause defended his MTAA National super welterweight title.

The night’s other three pro bouts were all stoppages. Adam Rothweiler scored and exciting head kick knockout of Jessie Magusen, Glen Spencer used knees to the body to stop Sebastian Lopez, and Joey Pagliuso landed a devastating right hand to end Karlos Aldama's night early.

Five more bouts have been confirmed for M-One “Reborn” in addition to the already announced of Romie Adanza vs. Jomhod Sagami and Sagetdao Petpayathai vs. Tetsuya Yamato. The additional five pro bouts will be Superbon Suppachai Meungsang vs. Craig Jose, Thanongdet Petpayathai vs. Charlie Peters, Bryce Krause vs. Douglas Edwards, Joey Pagliuso vs. Chris Culley, Glen Spencer vs. Sebastian Lopez, and Adam Rothweiler vs. Jessie Magusen.

Adanza vs. Jomhod and Superbon vs. Jose will be for M-One world titles, Thanongdet vs. Peters will be for and MTAA world title, Sagetdao vs. Yamato will be for a WBC world title, while Krause vs. Edwards and Pagliuso vs. Culley will be for MTAA National Titles.

M-One “Reborn” will take place May 16 at San Manuel Casino in Highland, CA.

Results and Recap: Push Kick Promotions "World Stand Off"

Pomona, CA -- Push Kick Promotions “World Stand Off” took place on Saturday night at the Pomona Fairplex in Pomona, CA. The night’s main event featured about between Chike Lindsay of Atlanta against Thai legend Somluck Kamsing. After a slow start Lindsay tried to pick up the action, but Somluck’s defense kept Lindsay from taking full control of the bout despite his efforts. Lindsay was still able to show his good form and technique en route to a unanimous decision victory over the resilient and savvy Somluck.

Kicking off the night’s fights was a bout between Moses Sangtiennoi and Ray Cole. Sangtiennoi came out aggressive pushing the pace against Cole who was making a return to action after a three year absence. An elbow by Moses knocked Cole down, who was able to continue after beating the count. Moments later a combination of knees and punches sent Cole to the canvas again and the referee stepped in to halt the bout, giving Moses the (T)KO victory.

Matt Embree took on last minute replacement Ben Yelle in an action packed fight. Embree came out more aggressive than usual and used solid clinch work and accurate striking to pick Yelle apart. He opened Yelle up with an elbow and landed solid knee strikes from the clinch. It was another solid performance by Embree as he took home a unanimous decision win. Embree continues to cement his name as one of the top North American fighters.

Malaipet Sasiprapa and Sean Kearney went the distance. After a first round that saw Malaipet show boating a bit, Kearney seemed to turn the pressure up in the second and third rounds as he pressed the action. Malaipet was able to land a couple of sweeps which caused the pro Malaipet crowd to cheer. Kearney continued to move forward attacking with knees to make his way inside and looked comfortable in the clinch. In the end the fight was a lot closer than the surprising judges’ scores of 30-27 across the board seemed to reflect, but Malaipet walked away with the unanimous decision victory.

Neungsiam Samphusri turned in a dominating performance against Michael Perez. Nice combinations from Neungsiam were giving Perez trouble early, eventually putting him down for good at 1:47 of the first round.

Josh Aragon made a successful pro debut by defeating veteran Shawn Yacoubian in an entertaining fight. Aragon pressed the action and showed a well rounded arsenal. Yacoubian showed he was game as he was not afraid to exchange with Aragon, but in the end Aragon’s aggressive style was too much and he was awarded a unanimous decision.

Glen Spencer and Brett Martin were involved in an exciting fight from start to end. Spencer pushed the pace from the beginning of the bout, but Martin was willing to exchange with him. In the second round Spencer turned the pressure up as it seemed Martin was starting to fade. Spencer was able to send Martin to the canvas after several knees to the mid section from the clinch. After answering the referee’s count Martin was again sent to the canvas for good after a combination followed by a flying knee from Spencer connected. The referee stepped in to stop the bout giving Spencer the second round (T)KO.

In what was arguably the fight of the night Chase Green and Daniel Kim fought two hard back and forth rounds, but it seemed that Green was likely ahead on the score cards entering the third and final round. In the third round it seemed Kim injured his knee, but Green was not able to capitalize on it. Instead Kim connected with a punch that knocked Green down, although he got back to his feet immediately. They continued to fight back and forth for until the end of the round. Two judges score the fight 28-28 and one judge scored it 29-27 for Kim and the fight was declared a Majority Draw.

The night ended with a bang. In the final fight of the night Sheldon Gaines scored a devastating head kick knockout of Sam Poulton 30 seconds into the first round. Gaines connected with a punch that seemed to stun Poulton as the bout began; an elbow then opened a cut on the top of Poulton’s head. Moments later a perfectly timed head kick ended the bout. Impressive performance by Gaines.

Push Kick Promotions has released the entire fight card for their “World Stand Off” event on March 2nd at the Pomona Fairplex in Pomona, CA. The event will feature six more pro fights in addition to the already announced bouts of Chike Lindsay vs. Somluck Kamsing, Matt Embree vs. Matee Jedeepitak, and Ray Cole vs. Moses Tor. Sangtiennoi.

The remainder of the card will feature Josh Aragon making his pro debut against veteran Shawn Yacoubian, Malaipet Sasiprapa taking on up and coming Sean Kearney, Neungsiam Samphusri vs. Michael Perez, Daniel Kim vs. Chase Green, Sheldon Gaines vs. Sam Poulton, and Glen Spencer vs. Brett Martin.

Nine pro fights on one night will be the most featured on any Push Kick Promotions event to date. The event will also be airing on the Comcast Sports Net and will also be available through live stream.

America at a Glance - Highlighting Muay Thai in America: Glen Spencer, Jr

Money, power, women, that was something Glen Spencer, Jr, lived by when he was running drugs in the streets of Raleigh, North Carolina. Spencer originally attended Shaw University to study accounting, however, a run in with his roommate led to his expulsion, which in turn led him to, as he put it, become a “French Montana style Coke Boy getting money. $300,000 in 6 months.”

Glen Spencer Jr a.k.a. Megatron will be making his professional debut at the K-1 event on September 8th in Los Angeles, CA. The Sityodtong fighter will be taking on up and coming fighter Mike Lemaire, and will be looking to make an impact upon arrival. Spencer looks to continue the positive results that Muay Thai and Kickboxing have brought into his life after some difficult times.

The Jump - Five amateurs we want to see turn pro

There are many great amateur fighters in North America, many posses skills that are on par with what is needed to compete at the pro level. We would like to introduce to you a segment we call "The Jump" in which we will highlight five fighters at a time that we feel are ready to make the transition from the amateur to the pro circuit. In the first segment of "The Jump" we feature two fighters based out of Los Angeles, two Canadian stand outs and one from New Jersey. David Huerta (12-1)
Huerta posses some of the best pure boxing you are likely to see in Muay Thai, but his all around game is very solid. Training out of Team Zarate in East Los Angeles under George Zarate, Huerta is constantly looking to improve his skills. The only blemish on his amateur sanctioned record came due to a freak accident his last fight against Mario Martinez, a bout which he was winning. Huerta has held of on the jump to the pro level despite feeling ready to contend with the American pro fighters in his weight class. When asked as to why he has held off he responded, "I want my trainer and manager to be happy with my performance and tell me it's time to make the move."

Official press release for "The Kings Birthday Celebration"

On December 5^th at 4pm, Stand Up Promotions and The Commerce Casino proudly bring to you the “Kings Birthday Celebration”, in honor of the King of Thailand’s birthday and the birthplace of Muay Thai.      

Stand Up Promotions first brought you the Muay Thai Extravaganza to celebrate Muay Thai Day, which featured the living legends Kaoklai and Saenchai fighting for World MTAA and WBC titles.

             

This time they are ready to end the year with what is being called the biggest Muay Thai fight in the U.S. all year – a bout that will have Malaipet “the Diamond” Sitpraprom facing off against “The Soul Assassin” Kevin Ross.  Both fighters are WBC International Muay Thai Champions and will meet at a catch weight to fight for an MTAA Super Fight.
