Results and Recap: The Warriors Cup XIII

The Warriors Cup XIII took place in Lincroft, New Jersey and it certainly faced some challenges. The main event between Justin Greskiewicz and Gabriel Varga was cancelled with less than two days left before the event due to an injury Greskiewicz sustained. As they say though, "the show must go on".

In the night's first pro fight Ognjen Topic and Anthony Demaio faced off. The bout started off slow with the fighters feeling each other out through most of the first round. In the second round Topic started to pick the pace up a bit. Topic was able to connect with an elbow and cut Demaio on the inside of his right eye. With blood flowing from the cut the referee called for time so that the cut could be checked. The ringside doctor called a stop to the bout after inspecting the cut. With the win North Jersey Muay Thai's Ognjen Topic improves is professional record to 3-2.

Stephen Richards talks about his return to the ring against Cyrus Washington

Last year Stephen Richards put on a memorable performance when he defeated Shawn Yarborough for the IKKC light heavyweight title in August. What was so memorable? Richards had his arm broken when blocking a kick from Yarborough midway through the fight, but rather than throw in the towel he continued to fight and push forward.

Despite winning, the injury took Richards out of commission for over a year, but he is now set to make his return against Cyrus Washington at Bangkok Fight Night 11 in Atlanta, GA on October 22nd. Stephen took some time out of his training to answer a few questions for Muay Thai Authority about his injury and his return to action for the WBC Muay Thai national super middleweight title.

The main event for the Bangkok Fight Night 11 has had the stakes raised. This will be the first time ever that a WBC Muay Thai title fight will take place in the state of Georgia. Bangkok Fight Night 11 will take place October 22nd at Center Stage in Atlanta, GA.

Washington have been a very active fighter as of late, he most recently dropped a spirited fight to Kaoklai Kaennorsing after a cut forced the bout to be stopped. Midway through the fight Buchanan knocked Thames down with a big right elbow, but was unable to finish him. It was a solid performance by Buchanan who was in complete control of the fight.

Shawn Yarborough stripped of WBC Muay Thai National Light Heavyweight Title

Light Heavyweight Shawn Yarborough has been stripped of his 175 lb WBC Muay Thai USA National Title. Muay Thai Authority confirmed that the decision was made last night by the WBC Muay Thai office in Bangkok, Thailand.

Yarborough last defended his title over a year ago on April 17th of 2010 -- when he defeated Tom Munro via first round TKO. Since then, Yarborough lost back to back fights to Stephan Richards and Brandon Bandon, both by unanimous decision. His WBC Muay Thai USA title was not up for grabs in either of those fights. Yarborough ended his two- fight skid by defeating Chris Romulo via split decision on May 14th in another non-title fight which took place in the lower super-middleweight division.
