Lion Fight 15 Results

Lion Fight 15 took place Friday night at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Ledyard, Connecticut. The promotions first trip to the east coast featured a main event bout between Cosmo Alexandre and Mark Holst. Alexandre as usual put on a technical performance en route to a unanimous decision victory over Holst. With the win Alexandre has now won back to back Muay Thai Fights and is 3-1 when fighting for Lion Fight.

The co-main event featured Kevin Ross vs. Chris Mauceri and it didn’t take long for these two fighters to get the action going. Ross struck early when he connected with an upward elbow that opened up a nice sized gash on the forehead of Mauceri. The doctor analyzed the cut and allowed the fight to continue. Despite the cut Mauceri kept pressing forward and Ross was more than willing to meet him in the middle and exchange strikes. The fighters were going back and forth in a close fight until it was stopped in the third round by doctors. After a sweep by Ross the referee called for time and when they analyzed Mauceri’s cut the fight was stopped despite Mauceri’s plea to allow it to continue. With the win Ross has now won back to back fights and is set to fight Michael Thompson for the Lion Fight Super Lightweight Title on July 4th. With the loss Mauceri tastes defeat for the first time in his career and now sports a 6-1 record.

Tiffany Van Soest and Lucy Payne met in a re-match from their July bout of 2013 and unlike their first encounter this fight made it past the first round. The pair actually went the distance with Van Soest winning once again. Her movement made her a hard target for Payne and she was able to connect with several chopping leg kicks that seemed to slow Payne down. In the end the decision was originally announced as split, but it was an error and it was actually a unanimous decision wing for Van Soest who rebounds nicely after tasting defeat for the first time in her previous outing against Caley Reece.

Mohammed Lemjerdine was able to avenge his brutal KO loss to Jason Andrada at Lion Fight 15. The Connecticut based fighters knocked Andrada down twice in the first round and connected with the heavier shots throughout the fight. In the end he was awarded a unanimous decision win and likely set up a rubber match down the road for these two fighters.

Nick Chasteen tasted defeat for the first time since turning pro earlier this year. Pedro Gonzalez came into the fight with less than a weeks notice and immediately went after Chasteen as if he had nothing to lose. In the second round a barrage from Gonzalez put Chasteen in a corner and delivered elbows and punches. When they separated the referee stopped the action to check Chasteen’s cut and the bout was stopped. It is a big win for Gonzalez in his pro Muay Thai debut.

Full Fight Card for Lion Fight 15 announced

Lion Fight has announced the entire fight card for their May 23rd event in Connecticut. Four bouts had already been confirmed for Lion Fight 15 including the main event bout of Cosmo Alexandre vs. Mark Holst and the co-main event bout of Kevin Ross vs. Chris Mauceri. The two remaining bouts confirmed yesterday were Nick Chasteen vs. Marc Seno and the pro debuts of Tim Amorim vs. Tom Evans. 

Chasteen is currently 2-0 as a pro with victories over Chris Culley and Jonathan Del Rosario, both of his victories coming by decision. Seno will be looking to hand Chasteen the first defeat of his professional career as he tries to rebound from a loss to Nick Vaughn under the Take-On Productions banner.

Van Soest vs. Payne and Andrada vs. Lemjerdine set for Lion Fight 15

Lion Fight regulars Tiffany Van Soest and Jason Andrada will be in action at Lion Fight 15 on May 23rd. Van Soest and Andrada will both be involved in re-matches, Van Soest vs. Lucy Payne and Andrada vs. Mohammed Lemjerdine. 

Van Soest and Payne first met at Lion Fight 10 where Van Soest scored a swift first round (T)KO over Payne. The fight will be Van Soest's first since losing her Lion Fight Women's Title to Caley Reece at Lion Fight 13 in what was Van Soest's first career loss.

Andrada and Lemjerdine first fought at Lion Fight 12 in an exciting back and forth fight. In the final round of the bout a perfectly timed counter elbow from Andrada ended the night for Lemjerdine.

Lion Fight 15 will mark the promotions first trip to the east coast and will feature a main event of Cosmo Alexandre vs. Mark Holst and co-main event of Kevin Ross vs. Chris Mauceri. The event will take place at Foxwoods Casino in Ledyard, Connecticut.

Jason Andrada vs. Mohammed Lemjerdine official for Lion Fight 12

Last week we reported that Mohammed Lemjerdine was expected to replace Aber Bouttavong in his fight against Jason Andrada at Lion Fight 12. The news is now official as Lion Fight has announced the change.

For those not familiar with Lemjerdine, he is one the east costs top fighters and will be making his promotional debut for Lion Fight. He holds wins over the likes of Ognjen Topic and Tony Manoharan. Andrada is one of Muay Thai's best prospects, he turned pro at the beginning of 2013 as has posted a 3-0 record since then. Andrada's move forwards style should prove to be an interesting challenge for Lemjerdine who tends to fight a slower more traditional Thai style pace.

Lion Fight 12 takes place November 1st at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and will air live on AXS TV.

There has been no official announcement from Lion Fight, but sources close to the situation informed Muay Thai Authority of the change.

Friday Night Fights "Castrejon vs. Lemjerdine" results, the first full rules Muay Thai event in New York

Full rules Muay Thai has come to New York. Friday Night Fights became the first promotion to host a full rules event in New York last night and the fights did not disappoint. In the night’s main event Las Vegas native Anthony Castrejon made quick work of Mohammed Lemjerdine. A head kick 47 seconds into the first round ended the bout. It was an impressive knockout for Castrejon, and a surprise to many. Lemjerdine is a highly touted fighter from Connecticut, but Castrejon used some nice foot work and timing to land the fight ending kick.

In the night’s co-main event Villi Bello and Turan Hasanov met in a re-match of their 2011 barn burner. In the first encounter Hasanov took home a judge’s decision, but this time around it wouldn’t go the distance. In the fourth round Bello scored a (T)KO victory due to leg kicks over Hasanov to event things up between them at one a piece.

In the first full rules Muay Thai fight in New York Elijah Clarke scored a KO victory over Gil Pinheiro, and it couldn’t have come in a more appropriate way. In the fourth round Clarke landed some elbows and a knee to end the bout and get the win in his pro debut.

Full rules Muay Thai comes to New York for the first time at this weekend's Friday Night Fights event

Friday Night Fights April 5th event at The Broad Street Ballroom in New York is set to feature two of America's rising talents in its main event. Anthony Castrejon of Las Vegas and Mohammed Lemjerdine of Connecticut will fight in what can easily be looked at as west vs. east match up. In the co-main event a re-match between Turan Hasanov and Villi Bello is sure to get fans on their feet, especially if it anything reminiscent to their first encounter in late 2011. What should really get fans in attendance excited is that the Friday Night Fights event on April 5th will feature full rules Muay Thai for the first time in the state of New York.

Full rules Muay Thai was set to come to New York in early 2012, but for one reason or another it was postponed. Now it seems the time is right and for fans that have been clamoring for the use of elbows in the state of New York, your wish is about to come true.

One thing is for certain, no one will be able to say they don’t fight real Muay Thai in New York again.

Anthony Castrejon vs. Mohammed Lemjerdine set as main event for Friday Night Fights April 5 event

Friday Night Fights has announced that Mohammed Lemjerdine and Anthony Castrejon will fight in the main event of their April 5th event at The Broad Street Ballroom in New York. In the night's co-main event Villi Bello and Turan Hasanov will meet in a re-match of their 2011 bout.

Lemjerdine was last in action this past September when he defeated Tony Manoharan by unanimous decision under the Friday Night Fights banner. He was schedule to fight Rami Ibrhaim this past February, but an injury to Ibrahim cancelled the bout.

Castrejon most recently competed under the Lion Fight banner at Lion Fight 7. He dropped a WBC Muay Thai national title fight to Andy Singh by unanimous decision. Before his lost to Singh Castrejon had won the first three bouts of his professional career.

NEW YORK (Mar. 6, 2013) – FRIDAY NIGHT FIGHTS, North America’s longest running Muay Thai promotion will return on April 5, 2013, to The Broad Street Ballroom in Manhattan, New York. The night’s main event will feature a fight between two of America’s best young talents as Mohammed Lemjerdine (4-1) of West Haven, Connecticut will take on Anthony “Pretty Boy” Castrejon (3-1) of Las Vegas, Nevada.

Mohammed Lemjerdine is known for his solid technique and as a pro holds a victory over the highly touted Ognjen Topic. Already considered one of the East Coast’s best fighters, the addition of Castrejon’s name to his resume would help cement his name as one of the best on a national level.

Anthony Castrejon is a highly touted young gun from out west. Known for his exciting and aggressive fight style, he will be making his East Coast debut against one of the East Coast’s finest. East Coast fans won’t be disappointed by Castrejon’s style and are in for a treat.

In the co-main event Villi Bello (5-2) and Turan Hasanov (5-3) will square off in a re-match of their 2011 barn burner. The last time these two fighters met the crowd went crazy as they slugged it out for five hard fought rounds. Hasanov walked away with a decision victory on that night, but the fans were the real winners. Now a year and a half later it’s time for the re-match and if it is anything like the first bout, the fans will once again walk away victorious.

Villi Bello vs. Turan Hasanov set as new main event for this weekend's Friday Night Fights event

This weekend’s Friday Night Fights event was set to feature Rami Ibrahim vs. Mohammed Lemjerdine as their main event, but the bout will no longer be taking place after Ibrahim withdrew due to injury and a suitable replacement for Lemjerdine could not be found on short notice. The night’s main event will now feature a bout between Villi Bello and Turan Hasanov.

Bello was originally schedule to fight Preston Baptiste, but Baptiste withdrew from the bout last week. This now sets up a re-match between Bello and Hasanov. The pair previously fought in December of 2011, an exciting bout which Hasanov won by decision.

The other pro bout slated for this Friday’s event will feature Matt McCusker vs. Chris Mauceri. The event will take place at The Hall @ St. Pauls.

Rami Ibrahim vs. Mohammed Lemjerdine set as main event for Friday Night Fights March 1st event

Rami Ibrahim (@Rami_Ibrahim) vs. Mohammed Lemjerdine has been tapped to serve as the main event when Friday Night Fights returns on March 1st. The event will take place at the Hall at St. Paul’s in New York.

Lemjerdine will be looking to continue and build on the three fight winning streak he is currently riding, while Ibrahim will be looking to snap a two fight skid. Both are two of the top 130lb fighters in America and should provide an exciting fight for fans with their move forward styles.

Results and Recap: Friday Night Fights Muay Thai "2012 8-man Tournament"

Friday Night Fights Muay Thai was back at the Ball Street Ballroom in New York, NY this past Friday. The night was set to feature the annual eight man tournament and a main event fight between Mohammed Lemjerdine and Tony Manoharan.

In the main event Lemjerdine out pointed Manoharan to a five round unanimous decision win. Lemjerdine pushed the pace forcing Manoharan against the ropes, although Manoharan had no problem delivering shots of his own while being backed up. In the end though, Lemjerdine’s hands were in rhythm the entire night as he took home the victory. He pushes his pro record to 4-1 with the win.

Tony Manoharan talks upcoming fight with Mohammed Lemjerdine

Tony Manoharan will be returning to action this Friday against Mohammed Lemjerdine at Friday Night Fights Muay Thai. The M-1 fighter from Toronto will be looking fight in North America for the first time this year and was kind enough to take some time out of his training to talk to Muay Thai Authority.

MTA: You are fighting Mohammed Lemjerdine this Friday, how familiar are you with him?

Tony: We were actually matched up as amateurs back in 2009, but the fight never materialized. I’ve seen him fight a couple times and he is a good technical fighter.

Tony Manoharan vs. Mohammed Lemjerdine set at Friday Night Fights Muay Thai September 28th main event

Tony Manoharan and Mohammed Lemjerdine have been pegged as the main event fighters for Friday Night Fights Muay Thai on September 28th. The nights event will also feature their annual one night amateur tournament. All of the action will be taking place at the Broad Street Ballroom in Manhattan, New York.

Manoharan last competed in late January at Loi Kroh Stadium in Thailand, a bout which he won by third round (T)KO. Lemjerdine last competed in July when he defeated Mike Erosa under the FNFMT banner. Both fighters are very technically skilled and it should be a high quality fight, with each fighter looking for an opening they can try and take advantage of to earn an edge in the fight.

Results and Recap: Friday Night Fights Muay Thai "All-Stars"

Friday Night Fights Muay Thai “All-Stars” took place this past Friday (July 20th) in New York. The night’s main event featured the return of “The Polish Punisher” Chris Kwiatkowski after taking a few months off due to a shoulder injury. Daniel Rodriguez was looking to spoil Kwiatkowski’s return to the ring, but “The Polish Punisher” made sure that wouldn’t happen. From the beginning it was clear that Kwiatkowski was the more technical fighter, he low kicks steadily started to pile up and in the second round they became too much to handle for Rodriguez. Kwiatkowski scored the (T)KO victory after some vicious leg kicks in the second round.

Results and Recap: Friday Night Fights Muay Thai "Tarrant vs. Erosa"

It was a packed house last night at the Broad Street Ballroom for Friday Night Fights Muay Thai: Tarrant vs. Erosa. In the night’s main event North Jersey Muay Thai’s Liam Tarrant was making his professional debut against Mike Erosa. Early in the fight Erosa bloodied Tarrant’s nose, but despite the blood Tarrant looked sharp as he controlled the fight by moving forward and landing solid kicks while successfully countering with punches. In the end he was awarded a unanimous decision victory by the judges.

Mohammed Lemjerdine bounced back from his loss knockout loss to Jake Mainini this past January by knocking out Anthony DeMaio. Lemjerdine looked sharp with his combinations and was able to knockdown DeMaio twice in the opening round. In the second Lemjerdine continued to enforce his will eventually forcing the referee to stop the fight after a third knockdown.

Scott Hirano was on hand to catch all of the action at the Friday Night Fights season opener in New York at the Hall at St. Pauls. The event was headlined by Alex Berrios vs. Travis Lerchen, a fight which Berrios won by (T)KO in the first round.

Results and Recap: Friday Night Fights Muay Thai season opener

New York - - Friday Night Fights Muay Thai kicked of the 2012 American Muay Thai scene with their season opener. The Hall at St. Paul's was packed to the gills with fans ready to see the year's first Muay Thai action in New York. The event was headlined by a bout between Tampa's Alex Berrios and Hoboken's Travis Lerchen. In the opening frame Berrios established his presence early when he threw a body kick that was caught by Lerchen, but Berrios countered with a punch that would drop Lerchen. After Lerchen answered the referee's count, he tried to press Berrios, but was met with a powerful push kick that sent him down again. The referee began the count again as Lerchen rose to his feet, but the fight was waived off. Lerchen protested the stoppage, saying he was ready to go, but the referee said Lerchen was not responding when asked if he wanted to continue. Berrios was clearly not happy with the stoppage, but nonetheless it is a win for Berrios. Despite the controversial stoppage he was clearly controlling the fight.

Mohammed Lamjerdine vs. Jake Mainini set for Friday Night Fights season opener

Mohammed Lamjerdine and Jake Mainini will go toe-to-toe at the Friday Night Fights Muay Thai (FNFMT) season opener on January 20th. The event will take place at The Hall at St. Paul’s and will feature a main event fight between Alex Berrios and Travis Lerchen.

Lamjerdine made his pro debut in late 2011 when he defeated highly regarded Ognjen Topic by split decision. The bout with Jake Mainini will be the second pro fight for both fighters. Mainini dropped a decision to Jay Matias in his professional debut.

Also expected to make his pro debut on the card is Tory Sheridan although an opponent is yet to be named.

Results and Recap: Friday Night Fights "Valtellini vs. Berrios"

Friday Night Fights threw its second event in eight days on Friday September 23rd and fans were in for a treat. The main event featured a bout between two of North America's hottest prospects in Canada's Joseph Valtellini and Florida's Alex Berrios.

Coming into the fight, picking the winner was any one's guess. Would it be the explosive Joseph Valtellini or the very technical Alex Berrios? As expected Valtellini came out looking to push the pace while Berrios looked to use his teeps from trying to keep Valtellini from moving in. Berrios looked to work by throwing single shots, while Valtellini looked to mix his attacks up with various strikes. Berrios attempted on a few occasions to land a flying knee, but Valtellini shrugged the attempts off. Berrios then tried to initiate the clinch, but Valtellini was able to avoid the clinch. Valtellini used very effective leg kicks that you could tell were adding up and after the end of round two, Berrios did not answer the bell to start round three. The win is a huge victory for Valtellini, who once again finishes his opponent in dominant fashion.

Ognjen Topic talks about his upcoming fight with Mohammed Lemjerdine

Ognjen Topic will be fighting Mohammed Lemjerdine at Friday Night Fights September 23rd event in New York. Topic took some time to answer a few questions for Muay Thai Authority about his upcoming fight.

MTA: You are fighting Mohammed Lemjerdine on September 23rd. How much do you know about him as a fighter?

Ognjen: Mohammed and I fought while we were amateur about a year ago so I know a lot about Mohammed and his style of fighting. He beat me on points so I am looking for revenge.
